Resolution criteria

Resolves Yes if OpenAI officially announces by 31 December 2026 at 23:59 UTC a physical consumer hardware product with an integrated electronic visual display designed to show text, images, video, or an interactive graphical interface. Otherwise, resolves No.

Background

OpenAI announced in 2025 that the io Products team had merged with OpenAI and that Jony Ive and LoveFrom would take deep design and creative responsibilities across the company. OpenAI said their collaboration had already produced tangible designs, but it has not publicly revealed the form of its anticipated consumer hardware.

Fine print

The product need not be available to order or ship by the deadline. Status lights, indicator LEDs, illuminated controls, and a projector that requires an external surface do not count as an integrated screen. A display contained in an accompanying phone, computer, accessory, or separate base station does not count. The product must be intended for use by individual consumers rather than solely as enterprise, developer, data-centre, or component hardware. An announcement by OpenAI, an OpenAI-controlled entity, or an official joint announcement with its design or manufacturing partner counts.
